Kitten Forever-Pressure

Pressure came out almost two months ago. I’ve had things come up or been out of town, so I haven’t written anything on it. The album sticks with me, though. It’s a fun one for sure. I don’t know if bubblegum punk is still a thing, or if that would really be the best way to describe Kitten Forever, but it’s the first thing I think of. Whatever you call it, Pressure hits at a blistering pace and doesn’t let up until it’s over.

Only 4 of the album’s 13 tracks cross the two-minute mark, and that makes for an interesting listening experience. By the time your ears have processed what’s happening in one song, the Minneapolis-based trio is already on to the next one. It leaves you breathless and constantly on your toes.

The single “Famous Friends” came out back in May. I’m not sure if it’s the best song on the record, but it definitely has the widest appeal. It also features my favorite line in this collection of songs, “We sing about death while we’re still breathing, about a broken heart while it’s still beating.”

If you dig that clip, I guarantee you’ll like Kitten Forever. Even if you don’t, give it a shot anyway. It’s only 20 minutes of your day and you might hear something that you like. You can stream it on the groups bandcamp page if you don’t want to buy it right away. If you’re in the Twin Cities region, you can catch them at Hexagon Bar on September 23rd.
