I’m not much of a fan of Rihanna. Her music has somehow become the most omnipresent sound in the world, and I just don’t get it. However, I do like covers of her songs. It’s a strange thing, but Manic Street Preachers take on “Umbrella” is one of my favorite things ever. So when I heard the St. Lenox cover of “Stay,” released on an EP filled with Andrew Choi playing other people’s music ahead of a new full-length of originals, I decided to share it with you.
He sounds a bit like Gavin DeGraw on this track, other times he sounds a bit like a young Phil Collins. In other words, he has a good voice for pop music if you like that sort of thing. He’s a classically trained violinist, still looking to find his wheelhouse. He’s dabbled in folktronica, r&b, and jazz-and he seems to do them all pretty well.
