Hero Monster Zero-“Stepping On Me”

Chicago quartet Hero Monster Zero have a new record coming out next week called Nice To Want. They’ve released a single for you to check out, and it’s a good tune. It kicks off with a big 70’s guitar riff before settling into a mid-90’s Counting Crows kind of vibe. Lead singer Andy Metz has been a singer-songwriter I’ve followed for a few years now, and he’s released solo material as well as a hip-hop album last year with 8090. His voice definitely finds its niche in the chorus, sounding like Rob Thomas if he could match the strained screams of Seven Mary Three’s James Ross.

The band is playing a release show this Saturday, December 6th, at The Elbo Room along with Jeff Brown & The New Black. Tickets can be purchased here.
