Preceded by her band and a mysterious cup with a Bernie Sanders sticker across the front, Jenny Lewis took the stage to a grand applause. She launched into the Rilo Kiley song “Silver Lining,” the first of many older tunes played in the set. Beach balls were flying, Lewis and her band were all smiles, and the positive vibes were flowing through the now-much-larger 80/35 crowd.
“With Arms Outstretched” was the highlight for me, but a great version of “You Are What You Love” from Rabbit Fur Coat was also amazing. Her latest album, The Voyager, was mostly put on the back burner in favor of known audience favorites (a well-known festival move). I gotta say, I appreciated it because I wasn’t in love with that album. The version of “She’s Not Me” was pretty rad though.
