“Let’s mosh! But make sure no one gets hurt.” Alicia Bognanno delivered this message with a sweetness that betrays her hard-hitting vocals fronting Nashville’s Bully. The early afternoon set drew a larger-than-normal crowd for a 2pm set on the blue stage, and those in attendance were ready to comply. The aggressive guitar riffs and thumping bass lines drove an energy into the audience that made the already sweating bodies jump and dance with glee, knocking one another around in a collective orgy of consensual violence.
They’re a fun band, for sure. And the buzz seems to be warranted as fans were clamoring for more when the set ended after 29 minutes. A short but satisfying set is probably for the best in this 90+ degree heat.
