Last night in Chicago, Transviolet had the crowd at Metro transfixed as they ripped through tracks from their self-titled EP. It took all of about two seconds to get everyone in the crowd dancing to the LA-based band’s guitar-driven synthpop.
The band came out of nowhere last year with an odd media campaign in which people would just receive the band’s music on a cassette reading “Just press play” that came in the mail with no return address. It seems to have worked, though, as I’m sure more than a few in attendance last night were on the receiving end of those tapes.
