Last night I got to see Slothrust, a band I think very highly of, for the second time. It’s been a bit over 2 years since the last time I could catch them and they did not disappoint. Their opening set for Highly Suspect was enough to make my week. They played a bunch of stuff off their awesome new record Everyone Else, including one of my favorite tracks of the year “Like A Child Hiding Behind Your Tombstone.”
My previous encounter with the band was at the tiny and dark Township, so it was great to see them play on a bigger stage, with lights, and a sound system that can handle Leah Wellbaum’s bombastic guitar riffs. I could not have been more pleased with how they played and that the crowd seemed to know a lot of the songs and was really into their set.
