Vérité at Lincoln Hall 8/28/17

After an impressive showing in the opener slot for Betty Who earlier this year, I was happy to check out Vérité’s headlining set at Lincoln Hall. As an unsigned artist she’s proven herself capable of getting things done on her own and her fans love her for it. She noted as much as she told the crowd about going from waiting tables at Applebee’s to playing in front of big audiences. While it’s a dream come true, she doesn’t regret her time as a server, stating that it taught her how to hustle to get what she wants.

She treated us to 15 songs, no encore. The biggest highlights were “Death Of Me,” “Better,” and the title track to her debut album “Somewhere In Between.” Again she displayed a talent for performing, even if it was mostly hidden by horrible lighting. I’ll be interested to see how her live performance changes as she adds more material to her discography. Everyone that was there loved every song, so I don’t know what she can cut from shows to make room for new tunes.
