NewTubes

The sun has been shining, they’re filming a new season of Arrested Development, and there’s great music around every corner. This week has proven that Spring is on the way and the feeling of rejuvenation is coursing through the veins of the Internet. I don’t usually put videos by different artists in the same post, but I just couldn’t wait to share these with everyone.

Sons Of An Illustrious Father: “Extraordinary Rendition”

When I talked to Josh Aubin before a show they played here in Chicago last year, he told me they had a whole album of material ready to go. I’m not sure if this song was a part of that or something written since, but the video is jaw-dropping. The choreography is brilliant, and the costumes were designed by 12-time Academy Award nominee Colleen Atwood (she’s won 4 times, including last year for Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them starring none other than Ezra Miller). Rafe Scobey-Thal directs with an amazing eye for detail.

Kitten: “I Did It”

More lineup changes for Kitten show up in this video, which isn’t much of a surprise. Chloe Chaidez has been adept at surrounding herself with the best people to create whatever sound she’s going for at a given time. The video features the band playing in a white room and multiple costume changes for the singer. It’s a fun clip for a good pop song that should be enough to make you a fan if you weren’t already.

Natalie Prass: “Short Court Style”

When I saw Natalie play a free show last summer, the songs were completely different from the material on her debut. They were funky, grimy R&B that made you want to dance. It’s a shift, for sure, but one that seems to be going smoothly. She recently did a great episode of the podcast Song Exploder where they break down the track piece by piece.
