Five days a week for eight straight hours I’m forced to listen to Christmas music. It’s brutal listening to same, tired “classics” over and over again. Mostly because those songs were all written 50+ years ago and are only considered classics because there aren’t new songs taking their place. This year I made an effort to get more non-traditional songs on the Christmas mix (“Santa Tell Me” by Ariana Grande, “Candy Cane Lane” by Sia, for example). Now here’s a new one from KPOP star Tiffany Young.

She put out her first solo album a couple years ago after working with insanely popular groups Girls’ Generation and TTS. In 2019 she’ll tour the United States, and as a precursor to that she’s delivered a sexy track for the holiday season called “Peppermint.”

The song avoids any of the usual pitfalls of traditional Christmas songs. There’s no decking the halls or egg nog…there is some unwrapping, but she isn’t talking about presents. It gets to the heart of what the season is all about, and that’s being with the one you love and spending time together.
