It’s been well over four years since Jenny Lewis last delivered a solo album, but the wait is almost over. On The Line will be out on March 22nd, and today she offered up a new single to help tide us over for a couple months. I caught her last fall opening for Beck and she played a couple new tunes which sounded great.
“Red Bull & Hennessy” has been floating around the internet for a couple years now. Different live versions have popped up now and then, but this is our first listen to the full studio cut. The album features guest appearances by Ringo Starr and Benmont Tench, and the vocals on this song evoke another classic rock icon, Stevie Nicks.
There’s a big guitar part in here that leads me to believe the new album will have a more electric vibe than her last release, The Voyager. It’s an exciting time for Lewis fans, as she’s also coming out on tour in both a headlining slot as well as opening some shows for Death Cab For Cutie. Check out her site for full dates and to pre-order On The Line.
