Dead Is The Cat: Inter-Dimensional Disco Balls

Woke up to this track in my inbox this morning and weirdly had a minute to check it out before heading to work. There’s a lot going on here and it’s a fun four minutes. Then I read the quotes from the two current members of the band and I appreciated the song even more.

There’s something very compelling about an album that makes the creators of it hate each other. According to Statler Gause, he and Tony Vanden-Eynden haven’t spoken in four months since they finished the record. That’s harsh. And it makes me want to hear the rest of the songs!

“Inter-Dinensional Disco Balls” has a good rhythm to it, reminiscent of mid-00’s U.K. bands like Kaiser Chiefs and Franz Ferdinand. The arrangement is quite interesting, with a slew of ideas all thrown together. It works so well, in part, due to the guidance of Ryan Boesch. He’s been engineer on records by Eels, Foo Fighters, and Andrew W.K. He clearly knows what he’s doing.

Since the two members of the band aren’t speaking, I’m guessing there won’t be a tour to support this album. If you want to follow them just in case they reconcile go here
