Alex Lahey has released two great records over the last three years. Her most recent, The Best Of Luck Club, landed in my top ten albums of 2019. She has a unique voice that speaks universally, never overly sentimental but always heartfelt. Yesterday she released a brand new song ahead of some newly announced tour dates on the west coast.

“Sucker For Punishment” is hard and fast. It builds off the energy she has displayed on songs like “Everyday’s The Weekend” and “Am I Doing This Right?,” but it never relents as those songs do. This song is more straight punk than anything else she’s done. It’s a fun change and it hits hard. I’ve listened to it ten times and can’t wait to listen ten more!
