I don’t pretend to be a KPOP expert, but I know what I like when I hear it. I didn’t know Sunmi as a part of Wonder Girls when she first started out in music. My relationship with KPOP in 2007 was basically non-existent, apart from hearing it occasionally on the college radio station. Now that I’ve been to a show and experienced the power it holds, I consider myself a bit of a fan.
Listening to “Heart Burn,” I love the 80’s vibe mixed with more modern production. It’s a fun song for the summer, and doesn’t get played out like some songs you may hear over and over.
She’s going on her first tour since the sold out 2019 run, which was her first as a solo artist. The dates in North America sold out for that one, and I imagine they will again this time. She plays Chicago on Friday September 2nd at The Riviera Theatre. Tickets available here.
