Frank Turner at Aragon Ballroom

June 23, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Sensational folk punk and punk rock artists Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls, Lucero, and The Menzingers are bringing their signature sounds to the Aragon Ballroom!

Francis Edward ‘Frank’ Turner was born in Manama (Bahrain) in 1981 but grew up in Meonstoke (Hampshire, England). He began his musical journey by joining the alternative rock band Kneejerk and then became the vocalist of post hardcore band Million Dead. Following the band’s split in 2005, he started his solo career as folk singer and songwriter and he’s usually accompanied by his backing band, The Sleeping Souls. Its line up consists of Ben Lloyd (guitar, harmonica, and mandolin), Tarrant Anderson (bass), Matt Nasir (piano, organ, guitar, and backing vocals) and Nigel Powell (drums, percussion, and backing vocals). While their musical style can be broadly classified as folk, it’s best described as folk punk; a fusion of folk with punk rock, with musicians performing their own compositions in the style of punk rock, but using additional folk instruments, such as mandolins, accordions, banjos or violins. They’ve had a stellar career with 8 studio albums, 1 live album, 4 compilation albums, 3 video albums, 16 music videos, 6 extended plays, and 12 singles. They’ve collaborated with many renowned artists and bands such as Jon Snodgrass, Reuben, Jonah Matranga, Austin Lucas, Tim Barry, Crazy Arm, Franz Nicolay, The Donots, The Automatic, Amongst The Pigeons, Look Mexico, Emily Barker and The Red Clay Halo, and John Allen.
