It’s been 40 plus years since The Damned first electrified the radio waves with their single “New Rose.” They beat The Sex Pistols by a few weeks with the first punk single and album in the U.K. they followed their first success with a failure and nearly gave it all up after that.

They’ve stuck it out, however. Through many comings and goings within the band, they’ve continued touring off and on over the decades. Just recently they landed their first album in the top ten in England, proving that their music has stood the test of time.

They return to Chicago’s House Of Blues this week with a festival-level lineup. The openers are each hugely popular on their own: The Detroit Cobras and X!
