One-sentence Reviews 5/7/2015

Such Jubilee by Mandolin Orange-A nice listen if you’re alone in a canoe letting the river carry you to an unknown destination.

Painted Shut by Hop Along-If The Go-Go’s and Sleater-Kinney formed a supergroup that no one cared about, it would probably sound like this.

The Waterfall by My Morning Jacket-I never thought I’d be looking back fondly at the solo work from Jim James.
MC III by Mikal Cronin-Every 2 years Cronin puts out the same record, and it’s always pretty good.
Sound & Color by The Alabama Shakes-A great instrumental record ruined by poor vocals.
California Nights by Best Coast-An improvement over their last album, but that isn’t saying much.
Wilder Mind by Mumford & Sons-Like Nuprin, it’s different, but still leaves you with a headache.
Lost In New York by Penguin Prison-Fun little dance record, but nothing more.
Sprinter by Torres-Sparse but sometimes very compelling debut record.
Choose Your Weapon by Hiatus Kaitoye-Groovy groovy jazzy funky pounce bounce dance (this sentence lifted from Us3’s “Cantaloop”)
Non-Believers by Mac McCaughan-Mac may have the youngest-sounding voice of any 40+ year old man ever.
Kindred by Passion Pit-Gossamer was a bit of a downer to me, so this one reminded me a bit of why I liked Passion Pit to begin with.
