Looney Gloomers-Faking Paintings

We’re only a few days away from the new Looney Gloomers album, Between Good Friends, and the band has given us one last single to enjoy. “Faking Paintings” is the final bit of music we will get before the album drops, and it seems like maybe they saved the best for last.

Just a couple of months ago I previewed a song called “Muscles” from the album and liked it quite a bit. “Faking Paintings” is, in my opinion, a much better song. It hits a lot of the same touchstones sonically, bringing in a bit more New Wave vibes. It also sounds more modern. The track is very full, at times very clean, but more often than not fuzzed out and frenetic. Looney Gloomers had fun with this one, and it comes through brilliantly.

Half the album is out now, and I can’t wait to check out the other half when it lands November 30th. You can stay up to date with the band on their Instagram page. No word on coming to the States to support the album, but maybe next Spring when it’s a little nicer traveling weather.
